Internet Tournament SA vs ACT
Sunday 20th February 12:30 pm Adelaide time – approximately 5:30pm
This event is open to juniors born in 2004 or later.
We have set the limit of 20 players to start with and that the tournament is a 6 round swiss in a teams format so that players can’t be paired with players from their own state/territory. We therefore need to have an equal number of players in each team. The time control is 15+5 sec, and we will use Tornelo (as this is easiest for teams tournaments).
The players can play either:
a) the preferred option – as a group at the Chess Centre under supervision using their own laptops, with only the chess program Tornelo running
or
b) at their home using a desktop computer that allows them to be viewed using Zoom at all times and only have Zoom and the Tornelo program running. The organisers in the ACT, Shaun Press and Kate Woodley will require players to be on camera and sharing screen whilst playing their games, and following FIDE online chess regulations. In their experience, juniors adjust to these requirements quickly. The most important regulation for players being Zoom supervised is that they must play their games on a computer (not a phone or tablet) with a primary camera.
Any SA player who wants to be Zoom supervised would need to join the Zoom meeting at 12pm Adelaide time, as there will be a set-up and a run through of the online regulations prior to the start of the tournament.
The winner will be calculated by the sum of all the players scores from each state/territory.
The ACTJCL will set up the tournament on Tornelo and the relevant Tornado/Zoom links will be sent to the players.

The final selection as to who will play will be made on Friday 18th February but we will be sending emails keeping you all informed before then.
