Individual Tournaments

Events for 2018

There are many exciting events being run by the SAJCL and SACA and others in 2018. Most junior events, like the State Junior Championships, are run in the second week of each of the school holidays,  and the players’ ages are determined by the simple rule – if the event is in the first half of the year – their age is that as of the 1st of January, otherwise, if the event is in the second half of the year, it is their age as of the 1st of July.

The events being run by SACA – the SA Chess Association, are held either over special long weekends or on Tuesday evenings – and while youngsters are encouraged to play in these events, they need to have either done some serious study or had coaching and know how to record their moves.
