Welcome to all the schools that regularly take part and any new schools keen to participate. There are 3 grades in both the Primary and Secondary team competitions – Primary A, B and C, and Secondary Div 1, Div 2 and Div 3.
Schools may enter as many teams as they wish but there are only 4 players in each team and it is important to have one or two reserves. The players in a team need to be placed in order of strength – the team order should not alter after round 2 in the primary grades and Div 1 or after round 4 in Divs 2 and 3. Some venues have limited space and therefore put a cap on the number of teams that can play there so you should register early to ensure you have the right venue for you.

Points to note:
The Primary A Grade is played with clocks with 45 minute per player so the matches can go to 5:30- they will be played at PAC. The other Primary grades will generally finish around 5:00 pm.
The Secondary Division 1 will be played using a time limit of 1 hour per player with a 10 second increment each move. The games of the players in Div 1 will be rated and so all those students playing in Div 1 will end up with an ACF (Australian Chess Federation Rating) They will play only 1 game a night – 7 in total.
The Division 2 and 3 matches have 2 games each night – with each player having 25 minutes per game – the matches are usually all finished by 8:45pm

PRIMARY
These Matches take at Prince Alfred College for Primary A, B and C Grades at 4pm
and
St Andrew’s School for a Primary C competition at 4pm
SECONDARY
These will take place at PAC on Thursdays at 7pm for Secondary Division 2/3

These Matches take place at St Peter’s Junior School, Seymour College, Fulham Gardens PS and Walford (to be confirmed) starting at 4pm
Friday Dates: Term 2: May 9, 21, June 6, 20 Term 3:July 25, Aug 8, 22
SECONDARY
There are 3 Divisions: Div 1 and Div 3 take place on the same night at the Chess Centre starting at 7pm. Division 2 takes place on the alternate Friday evening at the Chess Centre starting at 7pm.
