Chess Tournaments during the Summer holidays

Updated January 25th, 2023

The best way to improve at chess is to play in chess tournaments and over the Summer we have some great events for juniors! For young players in particular we have the Christmas Tournament on 23rd December 2022 and the Summer Tournament on 13th January 2023.

For the the really keen juniors who are planning to take part in the Nationals we have a Preparation Tournament running over 2 days.

Players who are not planning on playing in the Nationals may take part if they have a rating or are approved by the SAJCL committee – these days are intended to be for serious chess and so younger players are encouraged to take part in the Christmas or Summer Tournaments.
