Wednesday, 17th July, Thursday July 18th & Friday July 19th 2024

9:30 AM Start – lunch 12 noon, then 12:30-5:30pm

Played at St Peter’s Junior School, North Tce, Adelaide 5000

These are among South Australiaʼs most prestigious junior events. They are a brilliant way to improve at chess.  The players use clocks and are encouraged to record their moves. Some very good prizes. YOUR AGE IS YOUR AGE AT THE START OF THE TOURNAMENT!

St Peter’s will be open from 8.30am on all days to allow parents to drop off youngsters before work.

We want to have 8 games in all these Championships – 3 on Wednesday and Thursday and 2 on Friday. Clocks will be used with 60 minutes +10 seconds per move per player each game. 

We will have one game in the morning 9:30 – 12 noon with a lunch break (pizzas) at 12 noon. Then 2 games starting at 12:30pm and 3pm with all games finished by about 6pm, most finished by 5pm. Most sessions will be finished by 5:30pm

The format of the tournaments may change depending on numbers – if we have enough players, we may run separate events for just the Under 18 and Under 16 etc.

Schedule: 3 games on Wednesday, Thursday and 2 games on Friday: 9.30am, 12.30pm, 3pm.

Players are allowed to take up to two half-point byes  but not the final round.

Prizes: 

U18: 1st Prize – $200.00;  The Under 16, U14, U13, each have First Prizes of $100

Other age prizes depending on entries – the more the better!
